AYA NEO SLIDE highlighted in new product progress sharing video
AYA NEO has shared more details about the SLIDE, one of many gaming handhelds that the company has in the pipeline. Introduced in May 2022, AYA NEO then showcased a prototype unit in July. Subsequently, images of the GPD Win 4 leaked, highlighting design similarities between it and the AYA NEO Slide. Undeniably, the pair resemble a PSP or a PSP Vita, although the AYA NEO Slide has a few tricks up its sleeve.
On the one hand, AYA NEO has shown that the SLIDE's display can be used at two angles, unlike GPD's equivalents. Specifically, the AYA NEO SLIDE supports the typical flat orientation, as well as what appears to be a 45-degree angle. Theoretically, this could be useful for when using the device on a table, or just for gaming in general. It remains to be seen how well this will function in practice though, and whether the screen only supports these two postures.
On the other hand, the AYA NEO SLIDE's display sits on top of its chassis, unlike the GPD Win 3 or GPD Win 4. Unsurprisingly, the AYA NEO SLIDE has shallow keyboard keys. Presumably, these will offer considerably less travel than those included in the GPD Win 4, at least based on the latter's leaked marketing images.
Still in the prototype stage, the AYA NEO SLIDE should launch in at least two colours with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU, a Radeon 680M iGPU and LPDDR5-6400 RAM. Unfortunately, AYA NEO has not provided other details yet. However, the company has not moved from its Q4 2022 release date yet, while its latest images confirm a USB Type-C port, a microSD card reader, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers and a typical gamepad layout.
