AYA NEO has announced two new handheld games consoles as part of another hardware refresh. While it has only just announced the AYA NEO AIR and began selling the AYA NEO NEXT in February, it has already sought to introduce the AYA NEO 2 and the AYA NEO Slide. Thankfully, AYA NEO has now AMD's latest Rembrandt architecture; the AYA NEO AIR and AYA NEO NEXT both rely on Barcelo APUs.
Although Barcelo is another new architecture, it relies on older AMD Vega integrated GPUs, along with Zen 3 CPU cores. In comparison, AMD equips Rembrandt APUs with Zen 3+ CPU cores and iGPUs based on its latest RDNA 2 graphics architecture. Specifically, AYA NEO will equip the AYA NEO 2 and the AYA NEO Slide with the Ryzen 7 6800U, an APU with 8 CPU cores, 12 Compute Units (CUs) in its Radeon 680M iGPU and support for LPDDR5-6400 RAM.
According to AYA NEO, the Radeon 680M will provide both consoles with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti performance levels, presumably the laptop SKU and not its desktop counterpart. Theoretically, the AYA NEO 2 and AYA NEO Slide will deliver twice the performance of the Steam Deck too, with the Radeon 680M delivering 3.38 TFLOPS to the Steam Deck's 1.6 TFLOPS. Whether that translates into a performance advantage for AYA NEO's devices remains to be seen, though. Incidentally, it appears that both machines have 7-inch displays, potentially still 800p panels. Either way, neither of AYA NEO's new devices will be available until the end of the year.
