AYA NEO AIR Plus: Intel Alder Lake models announced, AMD Mendocino version will not ship until February 2023
It has only been a few days since AYA NEO announced the AYA NEO AIR Plus, which will be one of the first AMD Mendocino-powered machines. However, AYA NEO has since confirmed that the AYA NEO AIR Plus will also be available with a choice of two Intel Alder Lake processors. Incidentally, the company has revealed pricing for all configurations, as well as their expected shipping dates.
Specifically, AYA NEO will offer the AIR Plus with the Pentium Gold 8505 and Core i3-1215U, both 15 W processors with 4.4 GHz boost clock speeds and 4 E-cores. The Core i3-1215U has the advantage of 2 P-Cores to the 1 P-Core in the Pentium Gold 8505 though, along with 2 MB more cache and a more powerful iGPU. While both have Intel UHD Graphics iGPUs that peak at 1.1 GHz, the Pentium Gold 8505 has a 48 Execution Unit (EU) part, compared to the 64 EU equivalent in the Core i3-1215U.
Currently, AYA NEO expects to equip all AIR Plus configurations with the same 6-inch and 1080p display. The company has remained quiet on RAM and storage configurations, but it hopes to price match the Core i3-1215U and AMD Mendocino configurations, with the Pentium Gold 8505 model costing US$30 to US$50 less, depending on when you order a unit. As the image below shows, AYA NEO expects to ship Intel Alder Lake units from December 28 2022, with the AMD Mendocino version due at the end of February 2023. Also, the AMD Mendocino will ship alongside the AYA NEO 2 GEEK, another version of the AYA NEO 2 that we have covered separately.
