AYA NEO FLIP: Company adds another handheld device to its expanding lineup with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU
AYA NEO has not got any of its recent hardware announcements out the door yet, such as the AIR, NEO 2 or the SLIDE. Nonetheless, the company has thrown another device into the mix that it calls the AYA NEO FLIP. As its name suggests, the AYA NEO FLIP has a flip-up display like the gaming handhelds of yesteryear. In comparison, all but the AYA NEO SLIDE in AYA NEO's product stack have conventional candy bar designs, unlike competitor GPD.
So far, AYA NEO has revealed limited details about the FLIP, with it gearing towards a full release at a later date. Still, the company has shared a teaser image, along with a few specifications. Firstly, the AYA NEO Slide will have shoulder buttons, plus recessed main controls to protect its display. Seemingly, the joystick shown in the company's teaser image looks difficult to use, so it will be interesting to see how AYA NEO overcomes this. Also, the same image confirms that the AYA NEO FLIP will have a single wide hinge plus rather thick display bezels.
Additionally, AYA NEO has confirmed that it will include a 7-inch display, a mainstay of its devices to date. Moreover, the AYA NEO FLIP will rely on the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U with a Radeon 680M iGPU. Currently, AYA NEO has announced that three other machines will feature the same APU, with the AIR series relying on Intel Alder Lake or AMD Barcelo silicon instead. While AYA NEO states that it will launch the FLIP in Q4 2022, it has yet to provide any information about availability, configurations or pricing.
