AYA NEO 2 GEEK: AYA NEO announces another gaming handheld powered by AMD Ryzen 6800U and Radeon 680M silicon

AYA NEO has presented another handheld games console, having recently unveiled the AYA NEO 2, NEO Slide, NEO AIR and the AYA NEO AIR Plus. Incidentally, the company has since clarified that there will be more versions of the AYA NEO AIR Plus, discussed separately. Now, AYA NEO has added the AYA NEO 2 GEEK to its product stack, which it considers part of its 'affordable premium' segment. In comparison, the AIR Pro and NEXT are flagship and 'top premium' products, respectively. Fundamentally, the AYA NEO 2 GEEK is a slightly scaled-back NEO 2, but in what appears to be a thicker and potentially more ergonomic chassis.

As the comparison table below shows, the AYA NEO 2 GEEK relies on Ryzen 5 6600U and Ryzen 7 6800U APUs, which contain Radeon 660M and Radeon 680M integrated GPUs based on AMD's RDNA 2 graphics architecture. Additionally, the AYA NEO 2 GEEK has a 7-inch and up to 1200p display, mirroring the regular NEO 2. However, AYA NEO describes the former's display as being 'ultra narrow', presumably a reference to thin display bezels. Also, the AYA NEO 2 GEEK contains an inferior gyroscope, handle, joystick, motor and Wi-Fi modem than the standard AYA NEO, plus an unnamed 'special function'. Still, the AYA NEO 2 GEEK has USB 4 connectivity, along with a fingerprint scanner and microSD card expansion.

The AYA NEO 2 GEEK is already pre-orderable in China, where it will cost CNY 4,099 if you snag an early bird slot. Alternatively, the machine will cost CNY 4,999, still for an entry-level Ryzen 5 6600U unit. Conversely, AYA NEO has confirmed that the machine will cost at least US$699 in the US, or US$619 for early bird orders. In comparison, a Ryzen 7 6800U-powered model will retail for CNY 5,288 in China and US$799 in the US. Currently, AYA NEO hopes to begin shipping AYA NEO 2 GEEK orders in 2023.
