VAVA Chroma triple laser projector beats GPD WIN 3 to become Indiegogo's 2021 campaign champion with US$7.59 million funding
We reported about the VAVA Chroma projector back in September of last year. The company behind the device boasts that it is “the world’s most advanced ALPD 4.0 triple laser projector” and there is no denying the VAVA Chroma has the features that can back up the claim. The projector can display 4K content over a screen from 80 inches to 150 inches diagonal, and it can support HDR10 enhancements. Brightness reaches 2,500 ANSI Lumens with the used lamp offering 25,000 hours of life. To top it off, as the VAVA Chroma is an ultra-short-throw projector, it only needs to be 7.2 inches away from the display surface to cast an impressive 100-inch screen.
It’s hardly surprising, considering the specs, that the VAVA Chroma triple laser projector managed to secure the highest amount of funding on Indiegogo in 2021. A total of 2,648 backers coughed up US$7,595,250 to fund the device, which has a regular street price of US$4,699. Obviously, the high price for each Chroma unit helped the total amount reach heady heights, as a massive 19,440 backers supported the second-placed campaign, which was the Lomi compost maker. This environmentally friendly device secured US$7,235,470 in backing, with each unit having a retail price of US$499.
As for the GPD WIN 3 handheld game console, it managed to attract 6,225 backers who gave up over HKD$34.4 million (about US$4.4 million) to fund the campaign. The handy device came with a choice between an Intel Core i5-1135G7 and i7-1165G7 processor along with 16 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD. We reviewed the GPD WIN 3 early last year and found it to be a powerful console with a bright display and loud speakers. It’s now possible to purchase the portable gaming device via third-party retailers such as Amazon and Banggood.
