GPD P2 Max 2022: Refreshed compact laptop is finally orderable with an Intel Jasper Lake processor
GPD is rather busy at the moment, with the company having teased the Win Max 2 and XP Plus this week. Now, it has started selling the P2 Max 2022, a compact ultrabook that it unveiled in December. As we discussed at the time, the P2 Max 2022 only differs in a few areas compared to its 2019 predecessor.
Specifically, the P2 Max 2022 relies on the Intel Pentium Silver N6000, a quad-core and Jasper Lake processor that has a 6 W TDP and is based on a 10 nm process. Based on our tests, the Pentium Silver N6000 will deliver up to 25% better performance than the Core m3-8100Y in the last P2 Max. Also, the P2 Max 2022 has 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB SSD and a 34.96 Wh battery.
Moreover, the upgrade to the Jasper Lake architecture introduces Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 6 connectivity. However, the P2 Max 2022 retains its predecessor's 8.9-inch and 2,560 x 1,600-pixel display. Likewise, GPD has not changed the machine's micro HDMI port, its single USB Type-C connection or its 56-key and 5 row keyboard. In saying, GPD has upgraded the two Type-A ports from USB 3.0 to USB 3.2.
Currently, the GPD P2 Max 2022 retails for US$819.30 on the GPD official AliExpress store. While the company only offers one variant, it will bundle various plug types for multiple markets. Please note that you may incur customs duties and charges if you purchase the P2 Max 2022 from certain countries.
