Dynabook announces the Portégé X40-K, a stylish laptop with powerful processors and upgradability
Dynabook has revealed the Portégé X40-K, having launched the Portégé X40L last month. Like the Portégé X40L, the Portégé X40-K is a 14-inch laptop with 12th Gen Intel Core vPro processors. Purportedly, the Portégé X40-K will start with the Core i5-1240P and will be configurable up to the Core i7-1280P vPro.
As the presence of Intel vPro processors suggests, Dynabook intends businesses to purchase the Portégé X40-K, not consumers. Still, the Portégé X40-K has features that apply beyond businesses. Specifically, the Portégé X40-K has an aluminium alloy chassis finished in blue, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and upgradeable memory. Also, the Portégé X40-K relies on a 53 Wh battery and has a touchscreen display.
According to Dynabook's press release, the Portégé X40-K measures 323.6 x 220.6 x 17.9 mm and starts at 1.45 kg. However, it is unclear how much the Portégé X40-K weighs in its heaviest configuration. Additionally, the Portégé X40-K will be available with up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD and a fingerprint reader for biometric authentication. Alternatively, you could use the built-in IR camera that supports Windows Hello Face Sign-In. Moreover, the webcam has an optional privacy shutter but a rather outdated selection of displays:
- 14.0-inch HD (1,366 x768) TN display
- 14.0-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) TN display
- 14.0-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display
- 14.0-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display, 10-point multi-touch
Furthermore, the Portégé X40-K has a HDMI port, dual USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A ports, an RJ45 Ethernet connection, a microSD card slot and a 3.5 mm combined audio port. The Portégé X40-K will start at US$1,349 and should be orderable soon in multiple markets.
