New NordicTrack iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells can be controlled using Amazon's Alexa
NordicTrack has released the iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells, its first voice-controlled weights. The device works with Alexa-enabled devices, which you can use to quickly adjust from 5 to 50 lbs (~2.3 to 22.7 kg) in 5 lb (~2.3 kg) increments.
NordicTrack suggests that you can improve your workouts with voice-controlled adjustable weights. For example, you avoid the decrease in heart rate, which you may experience when switching between regular dumbbells. The device uses a motorized weight selector to modify the poundage of the device. You can also manually change the load of the dumbbells with a dial on the gadget.
The iSelect dumbbells come with three Alexa skills; to set a specific weight, adjust the weight by a particular amount, or adapt the weights for a certain exercise, such as a bicep curl. You can preset loads for 15 activities, including overhead shoulder press and reverse fly.
To use the dumbbells, you need a 2.4 GHz network connection. The weights are square in design and come with a digital display screen. They are accompanied by a storage tray measuring 21” x 19” x 16” (~53 cm x 48 cm x 41 cm), which has an integrated tablet holder.
The iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells by NordicTrack are currently available to purchase in the US for US$429 (~€377).
