Samsung previews its first-ever 4K/240Hz monitor ahead of CES 2022
CES 2022 is only 3 days away now; nevertheless, it seems Samsung is not willing to wait longer to unveil its latest Odyssey-series monitor. It, like the G9 before it, has a 240Hz refresh rate - however, this time, it pairs this potential for frame-rates with an improved 4K resolution.
The Odyssey Neo G8 is to be available in a single 32-inch SKU. Its 1000R curved "quantum" mini-LED panel has yet to be seen in 360 degrees (then again, its CES debut has to count for something), yet seems to have a similar build to the G9 thus far, particularly in terms of its stand.
Then again, the HDMI 2.1- and DisplayPort 1.4-enabled Neo G8 also appears to have sprouted front-facing fans this time around. It will be joined on the CES show floor by the Smart Monitor M8, a UHD device custom-designed for remote work, communication or collaboration with an on-board webcam that supports Google Duo.
This accessory might belong to the 32-inch Smart M8; however, it attaches to the monitor magnetically and can, thus, be carried around in the display's vicinity. Samsung has also packed smart-home hub functions into the new device.
The 27- or 32-inch Monitor S8, on the other hand, is more of a creator-focused product. It will come rated for the DCI-P3 color-/space and VESA DisplayHDR 600 standards, albeit in its 32-inch SKU only. The M8 will also have Ethernet connectivity, as well as USB type-C for data and 90W charging.
