Samsung has introduced the Odyssey G4 series, available as the S25BG40 and S27BG40. As their model names suggest, the S25BG40 and S27BG40 are 25-inch and 27-inch monitors, respectively. Seemingly, Samsung only distinguishes the pair from each other with their weight, dimensions and panel size; all other features are shared.
Specifically, Samsung equips the Odyssey G4 series with IPS panels that output at 1080p in 21:9 aspect ratios. According to Samsung, the pair offer 1 ms GtG response times, 240 Hz refresh rates and up to 400 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, Samsung promises 99% sRGB colour space coverage, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178°(H)/178°(V) viewing angles. Unsurprisingly, Samsung has included AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC support for reduced image tearing.
Moreover, the Odyssey G4 series has an Eco Light sensor, a low input lag mode and a refresh rate optimiser. Incidentally, Samsung has equipped both monitors with dual HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.2 connection and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Unlike Samsung's other new Odyssey gaming monitors, the Odyssey G4 lacks any USB ports. Unfortunately, Samsung has not confirmed S25BG40 or S27BG40 pricing yet.
