Samsung unveils the Smart Monitor M8 series
Earlier today, Samsung announced the introduction of the latest refresh to its Smart Monitor series, namely the M8. The M80B model is already available for pre-order globally and comes in four colors, with a 32-inch 4K UHD display. According to Samsung, "the Smart Monitor M8 offers both space and work efficiency in an ultra-stylish design" and this includes the fact that a design about three-quarters slimmer (11.4 mm or about 0.45 in) than the previous generation is involved.
The highlights of this slim 32-inch monitor include a removable, magnetic SlimFit Cam that features Face Tracking and Auto Zoom. Obviously, the camera is supported by video chat apps such as Google Duo or Skype.
The list of technical specs includes a typical brightness value of 400 cd/㎡, HDR 10+ support, 60 Hz refresh rate and 4 ms GtG response time, as well as a typical contrast ratio of 3,000:1. In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 sports a single micro HDMI and two USB-C ports (one up, one down) with a maximum charging power of 65 W.
In addition to the above, the stereo speakers built-in are also worth being mentioned. Samsung has decided to use two 5 W speakers that feature tweeters that are more capable than the average speakers used in monitors, which are often barely audible. Thanks to them and the support for services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV via WiFi (no TV or PC needed), this monitor can easily double as a TV whenever needed.
The color choices for those who want to buy the Samsung M80B monitor are Warm White, Sunset Pink, Daylight Blue, and Spring Green. As usual, the price and availability details depend on the market and retailer chosen by the buyer. In the US, the price tag reads US$699.99 (on Samsung's official online store).
