Ring has announced the Glass Break Sensor, which you can connect to its alarm system. The new sensor can detect if your windows are cracked or smashed from up to 25 ft away.

Ring has announced a new glass break sensor at CES 2022, which it adds to its home safety device line-up. The Amazon-owned company claims that this gadget can accurately detect if your windows are smashed or cracked.

The Glass Break Sensor uses AI technology to detect the sound of breaking glass, which can trigger your Ring Alarm siren to start or send a notification to your Ring app. The sensor can sense the noise up to 25 ft (~7.6 m) away.

This breaking glass sensor needs to be connected to a Ring Alarm or Ring Alarm Pro device. Many other sensors can be connected to your Ring Alarm system, such as contact sensors and motion detectors.

Amazon added a similar breaking glass detection tool to the Alexa Guard last year. This feature enabled Echo devices to detect the sound of smashing glass, as well as smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Amazon also added a motion detection feature to Echo devices in November.

The Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor is now available to pre-order at Ring and Amazon for US$39.99 (~€35.40), with shipping due to start February 16th. Currently, only customers in the US and Canada can pre-order the device.
