After debuting the ROG Phone 6 series earlier this week, Asus has now set its sights on its next mainstream premium phone for the year, the Zenfone 9. The successor to the Zenfone 8 is on its way, and what appears to be a marketing video straight from Asus has now leaked, revealing major details of the phone.
Shared by leaker SnoopyTech, the video confirms that the Zenfone 9 will be a compact phone like its predecessor, with a 5.9-inch 120 Hz AMOLED. The Zenfone 9's cameras are supposedly a massive upgrade on the Zenfone 8's, and the video confirms a 50 MP IMX766. That's hardly a flagship sensor but is still a significant improvement on the Zenfone 8's 64 MP shooter.
The Zenfone 9 gets a bigger battery, too, at 4300 mAh versus the Zenfone 8's 4000 mAh unit. Asus advertises a 6-axis gimbal stabilizer, for better video stabilization. Sadly, like the Zenfone 8, the Zenfone 9 only features two rear cameras. The second shooter will likely be an ultra-wide lens. Design-wise, the Zenfone 9 also looks to be a solid upgrade, with a more appealing rear camera module design.
Other features of the Zenfone 9 include IP68 certification, a Zentouch smart key apparently for easier scrolling, and stereo speakers. A 3.5 mm jack makes a glorious appearance as well. Under the hood will be a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Supposedly, the Zenfone 9 will be offered with up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Pricing is tipped to be between €800 and €900.
