The Asus ZenFone 8 is on its way to India
With its simple dual camera array and sub-6-inch display, the Asus ZenFone 8 is as likely to stand out in the Indian Android flagship market as it does in any other. Nevertheless, the head of Business (Commercial PC and Smartphone) at the System Business Group of Asus' national division in this country, Dinesh Sharma, has confirmed that the mini-phone will indeed launch there soon, implying that it will do so as a result of popular demand.
This upcoming event is rendered beyond a doubt with a new page on Asus India's website, confirming that the premium compact device, Snapdragon 888, 3.5mm jack and all, will be there soon. Then again, the event in question still lacks an exact date, something the company is apparently working diligently on.
On the other hand, it is almost certain that the phone will debut as the Asus 8Z, due to the OEM's inability to use the term "ZenFone" in India. Interestingly, Sharma's tweet made no mention of its bigger sibling: the 8 Flip that is essentially a refresh of the 7 Pro before it with a newer processor.
This might be a sign that Asus is ready to let its innovative motorized-camera concept slip away in its successors; it is also still not on sale through official channels in the US, after all (then again, it has now arrived on Amazon).
However, scrolling to the bottom of the '8Z' announcement page reveals the inclusion of an offical Flip render, underneath the legend, "Defy Ordinary". Therefore, it is possible that the "classic" ZenFone design will live to see another day - and at least 1 more new market - after all.
