Asus finally announces a launch for the 8z in India
Asus has had to rebrand the ZenFone 8 to the 8z for the Indian market. This compact flagship smartphone's debut has not been heard of since its initial teaser in July 2021; however, the OEM has now finally scheduled its launch. It will be available through Flipkart, hopefully not long after that.
Asus initially launched the ZenFone 8 nearly 10 months ago now as a flagship variant without its series' signature mechanical flip-cam. However, despite this timeline, it is still not available in every market where the OEM's mobile division operates. It has addressed that somewhat with a debut for its India-specific 8z version.
The company's confirmation that the phone was on the way has been followed by nothing but months of silence on the subject. Now, however, Asus India's Twitter account has revealed that the 8z will launch on the last day of February 2022 at 12:00 IST (08:00 CET).
Asus touts the 8z as "the perfect phone", perhaps due to its unusually compact size and also possibly due to the presence of a 3.5mm jack in a premium device. However, it may also arrive as one that is more than a little out-of-date with its Snapdragon 888 SoC, whereas its successor the 8 Gen 1 is gradually becoming more and more prevalent even at this stage of the year, in phones that might even include a ZenFone 9 (or 9z) soon.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
