ASUS has diversified its ZenFone line-up, as we have covered in a separate article covering the ZenFone 8. While ASUS released the ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro with flip-up cameras, it has moved this technology into an individual sub-category with the ZenFone 8 series. Hence, we have the ZenFone 8 Flip, which is the true successor to last year's ZenFone 7 series, unlike the ZenFone 8.
According to 91Mobiles and Ishan Agarwal, the ZenFone 8 Flip has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, just like the ZenFone 7 series. This display is apparently a 90 Hz panel too, a la last year's models. Similarly, the ZenFone 8 Flip measures 165 x 77.3 x 9.5 mm and weighs 230 g, mirroring the ZenFone 7 series.
Likewise, the ZenFone 8 Flip has three rear-facing cameras, a 64 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide and a 12 MP telephoto. ASUS may have chosen different camera sensors for this year's model, but these megapixels match the three cameras on the ZenFone 7 series.
The ZenFone 8 Flip has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 30 W charging too; yet more features ASUS has brought over from the ZenFone 7 series. ASUS has equipped the ZenFone 8 Flip with a Snapdragon 888 though, which will bring more than just CPU and GPU performance improvements over the Snapdragon 865 found in the ZenFone 7 series. Regardless, the ZenFone 8 Flip feels like an iterative upgrade over last year's ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro. ASUS will announce the ZenFone 8 Flip on May 12 alongside the ZenFone 8.
