The wait goes on for a new iPad mini, but specifications for the so-called iPad mini Pro have now leaked. According to a new report, Apple plans to charge US$649 and up for the iPad mini Pro, which it will equip with an 8.7-inch display and 5G connectivity. Expect the iPad mini Pro to arrive in 2H 2021.

While a new iPad mini has not come to fruition, a new report from South Korea claims that an iPad mini Pro remains on track. A similar rumour emerged in March, which claimed that the device was being developed in anticipation of a release in 2H 2021. The latest rumour sheds some light on what specifications the iPad mini Pro would offer, though.

Apparently, the iPad mini Pro has an 8.7-inch display and has slim bezels like those found on the iPad Pro series. Essentially, the iPad mini Pro is a smaller iPad Pro, rather than a more premium iPad mini. The current iPad mini has a 7.9-inch display, for reference.

The report adds that Apple will sell the iPad mini Pro in silver and grey, which sound like rather conservative colours. The tablet is expected to support 5G too, a feature that would put it on par with the current iPad Pros. There is no word on what SoC Apple has chosen, although we imagine that it will be the A14 Bionic or the M1. The iPad mini Pro is thought to cost in the region of US$649.
