91Mobiles has revealed more details about the ZenFone 8, one of ASUS' upcoming flagship smartphones. Last week, the website published marketing renders and specifications of the device, on which we reported. Now, it has detailed how much the ZenFone 8 will cost, albeit only in the Eurozone.
According to 91Mobiles, ASUS plans to launch the ZenFone 8 for €700, with prices rising to €750 and €800 for the mid-tier and top-end models, respectively. However, we would not be surprised if ASUS dropped these prices by €1 so that it could claim to sell the ZenFone 8 at €699.
For context, Google sells the Pixel 5 for €629, which has a Snapdragon 765G SoC. By contrast, the ZenFone 8 will have a Snapdragon 888 SoC, putting it in competition with the OnePlus 9, a smartphone that starts at €699 in the Eurozone. 91Mobiles claims that ASUS will sell the ZenFone 8 in the following configurations:
- 8 GB RAM/128 GB storage - €700
- 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage - €750
- 16 GB RAM/256 GB storage - €800
In our opinion, the ZenFone 8 could be a bit of a sleeper hit, with it offering a combination of features that others do not. ASUS will reveal the ZenFone 8 on May 12 alongside the ZenFone 8 Flip.
