Asus VivoBook M515UA with 8-core Ryzen 7 5700U begins shipping this week for $649 USD
One of the best things about the mobile AMD Ryzen series is you no longer have to drop over a grand for Core i7-level performance. In fact, you can get even faster performance than a typical Core i7 laptop for hundreds of dollars less if you know where to look. Asus is about to launch its 15.6-inch VivoBook M515UA equipped with the latest Ryzen 7 5700U CPU which we've already proven to be faster than the best Intel Tiger Lake-U CPUs currently available in multi-threaded tasks.
Other notable features of the laptop include 16 GB of expandable RAM, a 1080p IPS display, and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. Buyers will likely be surprised at how fast the processor can be considering the budget price point.
We've yet to review the laptop or the VivoBook M515 series in general and so we can't offer any specific drawbacks of the model. For example, we can't confirm if the USB-C port will support DisplayPort or Power Delivery. However, the 45 percent NTSC color coverage of the display will definitely be insufficient for graphics editing while the lack of Thunderbolt support will hamper the docking capabilities of the system. Thunderbolt continues to be a defining bullet point separating most Intel and AMD laptops as of 2021.
Newegg is currently accepting pre-orders for the Asus VivoBook M515UA with an expected ship date of May 14. However, the model is already on backorder to suggest limited availability at launch.
