ASUS has announced the ROG Strix G15, one of two Advantage Edition laptops that the company has unveiled today. The other is the ROG Strix G17 Advantage Edition, which you can read about here. The G15 Advantage Edition features up to a Ryzen 9 5900HX, a 45 W APU from AMD's Cezanne family. The Ryzen 9 5900HX has 8 cores, 16 threads and can boost to 4.6 GHz.
Arguably, the Ryzen 9 5900HX is not the G15 Advantage Edition's most interesting component. In our opinion, that mantle goes to the AMD Radeon RX 6800M. According to ASUS, the G15 Advantage Edition can keep the RX 6800M at 2,300 MHz, which is much higher than AMD's RDNA 1.0 mobile GPUs. Details on the RX 6800M remain sparse for the time being, though. The G15 Advantage Edition supports AMD's SmartShift and Smart Access Memory features, too.
Additionally, the G15 Advantage Edition has dual SO-DIMM slots, dual M.2 2280 slots and a 90 Whr battery. ASUS has also equipped the device with the following ports:
Left-hand side
- USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A x3
- 3.5 mm combo headphone and microphone jack
Rear
- USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C x1 (DisplayPort & Power Delivery)
- RJ45 x1
- HDMI 2.0b x1 (HDCP SPEC 2.2)
ASUS states that the G15 Advantage Edition will be available with two display options, both IPS-level and 15.6-inch panels. The entry-level model is an FHD and 300 Hz panel covering 100% of sRGB, but there is also a QHD and 165 Hz panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Both panels support AMD FreeSync Premium and have 3 ms response times.
The G15 Advantage Edition measures 354.9 x 259.9 x 22.69 mm and 27.2 mm at its thickest point. The laptop weighs 2.4 kg, regardless of the configuration in which you purchase it. ASUS has not disclosed when it plans to start selling the G15 Advantage Edition, nor how much it will cost in the UK or the US. However, it has confirmed that the device will start at €1,799 in Germany.
