We are seeing an increasing number of laptops sporting 16-inch WQHD 165 Hz panels. Not to be left out of the club, Asus is also offering a 16-inch gaming laptop of its own called the ROG Zephyrus M16. Asus says that the Zephyrus M16's chassis is 5% slimmer than the Zephyrus M15 with a thickness of only 19.9 mm and 1.9 kg weight.
The ROG Zephyrus M16 features the new Intel 11th gen Core i9-11900H processor, which Asus says can run at 45 W of sustained power when the GPU is active and at 80 W on its own. As part of ROG Intelligent Cooling technologies, Asus continues to use liquid metal as the thermal interface material of choice. There are two 84-blade Arc Flow fans that help push the heat coming from the six heatpipes away from the CPU and GPU. The fans completely stop when the temperatures dip below 50 °C.
Asus offers the RTX 3070 as the GPU of choice in the ROG Zephyrus M16, which the company says can boost up to 1,390 MHz at 80 W. A Dynamic Boost power of 20 W is also available when the CPU loads are lighter. The Zephyrus M16 can be equipped with up to 48 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and up to 2 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage.
As indicated before, the ROG Zephyrus M16 features a 16-inch WQHD (2,560 x 1,600) with a 165 Hz refresh rate and a 3 ms response time. The display also supports Adaptive Sync and Dolby Vision and is Pantone-validated for the 100% DCI-P3 coverage.
Port selection includes several USB Type-A and Type-C ports including a Thunderbolt 4 port and HDMI 2.0b out. Networking is provided by the Wi-Fi 6 adapter with Bluetooth 5.2. A 90 WHr battery with fast charging technology keeps the Zephyrus M16 chiming for up to 10 hours of video playback.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 will be available in an Off Black finish with a Prismatic Film shimmering through CNC-milled perforations in the lid. Pricing and availability info is yet to be announced.
