JD.com has the Asus VivoBook Pro 14 with Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H APU options and 2.8K OLED displays for pre-order at under $800. Great prices, no doubt, especially when factoring in the OLED specs with 90 Hz refresh rate, 600 nits peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. However, the port selection is limited, offering no USB-C.

China is getting quite a few laptop devices ahead of the other regions as of late. Asus does not have China-only brands like the Xiaoxin laptops from Lenovo, but it does seem to offer select models only in China. The latest example comes in the form of the VivoBook Pro 14 slim and light notebook that is up for pre-order at JD.com with a very affordable price, despite featuring an impressive OLED display. Most Chinese exclusives still end up selling on the Western markets under different names or with slightly different specs, so this VivoBook model could eventually make its way to Europe and NA, hopefully with the same excellent pricing.

The Asus VivoBook lineup is usually powered by ULV processors, yet the new Pro 14 model is an exception. Even though it weighs in at around 3 lbs (1.35 kg) and is only 0.7-inch (1.79 cm) thick, it features the new AMD Ryzen 5000H processors with 45W+ TDPs. Of course, the slim chassis does not allow for a dGPU, but the Vega iGPUs should still provide decent performance. According to the listings on JD.com, the VivoBook Pro 14 can be equipped with either a Ryzen 5 5600H or Ryzen 7 5800H coupled with 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. Now, these specs seem great when we factor in the price tags: the Ryzen 5 model can be pre-ordered for ~$710, while the Ryzen 7 one is available for ~$770.

With import taxes and VAT, prices should still be sub-$1,000 in the EU or NA, and also keep in mind that these come with an 2.8K OLED display. Some of the outstanding specs for the OLED display include 90 Hz refresh rate, 16:10 aspect ratio with 2880 x 1800 resolution, 0.2 ms response time, 600 nits peak brightness and VESA HDR500 certification, 10-bit depth plus 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and true blacks.

Since it is an AMD laptop, this model does not offer Thunderbolt connectors. Unfortunately, there is no USB-C, either. It only features  USB-A 3.0 + 2x USB-A 2.0, audio jack, HDMI video out and a microSD card reader. It also integrates Wi-Fi 6 support, Harman Kardon stereo speakers, 720p webcam with physical shutter, fingerprint scanner on the power button and a 50 Wh battery.
