Concept renders from a Taiwanese-based artist have purported to provide an idea of what Asus's next mainstream flagship phone, the Asus Zenfone 9, will look like. Notable takeaways include a return of the flipping camera module as well as a curved back and display.

The Asus Zenfone 8 series debuted in May last year. What appeared to be 2D renders of the Zenfone 9 surfaced in January and now a set of concept renders of the phone have also been released, creating hype for what could be.

The renders were published by artist Joel Chang on Behance last month, and show the Zenfone 9 with what appears to be both a curved back and display. Asus's popular flipping camera module makes an appearance here as well, after the company went back to a traditional setup on the Zenfone 8. The Zenfone 8 Flip retained that module, though, implying that Asus still sees a market for that camera module style.

It's important to point out that these are just concept renders of the Zenfone 9. The real thing is more likely to look similar to last year's Zenfone 8, though a potential Zenfone 9 Flip could look quite a lot like this. The artist appears to be based in Taiwan, however, which some would consider as lending credence to the validity of the shared images. We wouldn't bet on that, though.
