MagyarAsus Zenbook 14X UX5400 and Zenbook 14 Flip UN5401 now shipping with 2.8K OLED displays and Ryzen 7 Zen 3 CPUs
The high-profile 14-inch Asus Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED laptops are now available for purchase in the United States. Both models are notable for carrying 16:10 2.8K (2800 x 1800) OLED touchscreens whereas most other subnotebooks are still using 16:9 IPS panels.
In our review of the Zenbook 14X OLED, we praised its vibrant OLED display, improved ScreenPad 2.0, and excellent build quality while blasting its soldered RAM, high power consumption due to the OLED ScreenPad and GeForce MX450 GPU, and strained cooling solution. In short, the system is better for productivity when compared to most other 14-inch laptops, but be prepared for louder fan noise and shorter runtimes.
Meanwhile, the ZenBook 14 Flip OLED is one of the first 14-inch convertibles to come with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and Ryzen 9 5900HX Zen 3 CPU options. It is subsequently one of the fastest 14-inch convertibles you can find if CPU performance is priority. Keep in mind that the model lacks Thunderbolt support unlike on the Intel-powered Zenbook 14X OLED model above. We've yet to review the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED which appears to be using a completely new chassis design when compared to other Zenbook 14 models already available.

Fremont, California (March 16, 2022) — ASUS today launched Zenbook 14X OLED (UX5400) and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UN5401), a premium 14-inch convertible laptop with a 16:10 aspect-ratio design that gives it an entirely new look and feel.
Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED features an ultra-bright up to 2.8K OLED HDR NanoEdge touchscreen that delivers exceptionally realistic visuals with deep blacks and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio. It's PANTONE® Validated for industry-standard color accuracy, has a cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 gamut for ultra-vivid colors, and is TÜV-certified for low blue-light levels. Both have 16:10 aspect ratio, but Zenbook 14X OLED has a 92% screen-to-body ratio and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has an 88% screen-to-body ratio for an expanded visual workspace, and reducing the need for scrolling.
Zenbook 14X OLED is equipped with 11th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor, while the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series Mobile Processor that delivers smooth multitasking and effortless productivity. A high-capacity 63 Wh battery provides long battery life and supports USB-C® Easy Charge for convenient and quick charging anywhere. Intel WiFi 6 connectivity is enhanced with ASUS WiFi Master Premium technology, which includes ASUS WiFi Stabilizer for reduced interference and ASUS WiFi SmartConnect for seamless connections.
Zenbook 14X OLED has a 16.9 mm thin chassis when the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has a 15.9 mm thin chassis, but still retains a full complement of I/O ports for comprehensive on-the-go connectivity, including a USB Type-A port, two USB-C ports, a standard HDMI® port, a microSD card slot, and an audio jack. They are built to last and passed the ultra-demanding MIL-STD-810H U.S. military standard for reliability and durability.
For the best user experience, they both include a fingerprint sensor on the power button for fast login and the ASUS NumberPad 2.0 for easy data entry. The Zenbook 14 Flip OLED supports a high-precision 4096-pressure-level stylus and a 360° ErgoLift hinge, which allows it to be used in laptop, tent, stand, or tablet mode — or anything in between, making it truly versatile for productivity, entertainment, sharing or collaboration.
16:10 OLED HDR display
Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is available with 2.8K OLED HDR four-sided NanoEdge touchscreen, making it ideal for any type of user. This gorgeous slim-bezel display brings everything to life, with a 16:10 aspect ratio that provides an 18%-bigger visual workspace than a standard 16:9 display. The taller screen also lets the user see more of a website or document without having to scroll up or down, making it perfect for reading, writing or coding.
The display has a cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and is PANTONE® Validated for ultra-vivid, ultra-accurate colors. OLED technology ensures true blacks with up to a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio for enhanced realism, and for outstanding eye care the display is also TÜV-certified for low blue-light emissions.

Zenbook 14X OLED is powered up to the latest 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 processor, up to 16GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce MX450 discrete graphics, Zenbook 14X OLED gives all the all-round performance needed for smooth multitasking and effortless productivity. With up to an ultrafast 1 TB PCIe® 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD and gigabit-class Intel WiFi 6 (802.11ax) users won't be waiting for apps or websites to load, either.
Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is equipped with up to a high-performance AMD Ryzen 7 5800HX Mobile Processor, up to 16GB RAM and AMD Radeon™ graphics, and 512GB PCIe® 3.0 x4 M.2 SSD and gigabit-class Intel WiFi 6 (802.11ax).
Despite its slim 16.9 mm and 15.9 mm chassis, both Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED provides all the I/O ports needed for on-the-go peripheral connections, including a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a standard HDMI® port, a microSD card slot, and an audio jack.
ASUS IceCool Plus thermal technology maximizes performance in thin and light laptops, with three fan performance profiles to choose from in the MyASUS app. Three fan modes are available: Performance Mode maximizes performance and thermal parameters for heavy workloads; Standard Mode intelligently optimizes performance, thermal, and power parameters for everyday tasks; and Whisper Mode delivers cool and quiet power-saving operation.
Best user experience
The user experience on both Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has been made even better with some thoughtful design features. The Zenbook 14X OLED engineered a lay-flat 180° ErgoLift hinge that slightly tilts the rear of the laptop to make typing more comfortable. With the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED, its precision-engineered 360° ErgoLift hinge delivers four modes — laptop, stand, tent, or tablet —just a flip away for intuitive natural sketching or note-taking, the touchscreen supports a 4096-pressure-level precision stylus.
The innovative ASUS NumberPad 2.0 is a dual-function touchpad with an integrated LED-illuminated numeric keypad. Even when NumberPad is activated, the touchpad can be used for cursor control thanks to its intelligent software. They also both have a fingerprint sensor conveniently located on the power button for easy and secure one-touch login with Windows Hello.
