The ZenFone 7 series is Asus' 2020 camera-focused flagship phone series. Despite this, the 2 devices are only just now receiving the OTA to update them to Android 11. This worldwide roll-out also upgrades their security patch level to March 5, 2021.

Asus has announced a major software upgrade for the ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro via its ZenTalk support forum. This new build (30.40.30.96) is the one that finally brings Android 11 to their units worldwide. It has arrived about 6 months after the beginning of the beta program for this update.

The OEM states that 2020 ZenFone users can either wait for its OTA or upgrade their firmware manually. The series has a history of UIs close to stock Android, meaning they may expect a new interface with the vast majority of Google's latest software features.

On the other hand, the ZenFones 7 have been out for 8 months or so now, and their next generation (slated to include a Mini variant for the first time) may be just around the corner.

Furthermore, Android 12 cannot be far away now either. Hopefully, Asus will be able to speed up the development and distribution of its updates for its unusual flagships in the future.

The ZenFone 7 Pro is available on Amazon
