LG has confirmed which of its smartphones will see Android 12 and Android 13, while reiterating its Android 11 update plans. At least the LG Velvet and LG Wing will receive Android 13, while the V50, G8 and three Q-series smartphones will get Android 12. Inexplicably, the V60 ThinQ is missing from LG's update plans, despite being the company's last true flagship smartphone.

There has been plenty of news about LG smartphones lately, even though the company has confirmed that it will be exiting the smartphone business by the summer. Last week, it announced that some devices would be receiving up to three OS updates, although it was unclear which would be brought up to Android 13.

Now, LG Korea has issued a statement confirming which devices it expects to upgrade to Android 11, Android 12 and Android 13. The devices are as follows, although some have already started receiving Android 11.

Android 11

  • LG Wing
  • LG Velvet
  • LG Velvet LTE
  • LG V50S
  • LG V50
  • LG G8
  • LG Q31
  • LG Q51
  • LG Q52
  • LG Q61
  • LG Q70
  • LG Q92
  • LG Q9 One

Android 12

  • LG Wing
  • LG Velvet
  • LG Velvet LTE
  • LG V50S
  • LG V50
  • LG G8
  • LG Q31
  • LG Q52
  • LG Q92

Android 13

  • LG Velvet
  • LG Velvet LTE
  • LG Wing

The company notes that the roadmap may change over time, but seemingly only if performance issues arise during testing. Understandably, LG has no idea when it will start distributing Android 12 or Android 13. Additionally, we would expect LG to upgrade devices that it does not sell in South Korea too, including the G8S ThinQ.

However, we cannot explain why LG has omitted the V60 ThinQ from its upgrade lists. The company sells a variant (LM-V600N) in South Korea, so it should receive at least Android 11. LG released the V60 ThinQ on Android 10, so it should be the fourth device to receive Android 13, alongside the Velvet, Velvet LTE and the Wing. The V60 ThinQ has already started receiving Android 11 in some countries anyway, so we suspect that it remains in LG's plans for the time being.
