Is the ZenFone 7 coming to the US after all? Maybe, according to a new leak
The Zenfone 7 series is the second round of Asus' premium smartphones to feature a flip-camera module, which is designed to make a device's main lenses face the front as necessary while leaving its display in a truly edge-to-edge state. Therefore, its US fans may have been disappointed when the OEM's launch plans did not extend to a release in this market.
However, there are now hints that this situation may be subject to change. A Redditor called unhingeddonkey has posted text alleged to have come straight from Asus' support team members in the US. They may be interpreted to mean that the 7 may be coming to the same country after all.
Then again, only one of these statements, which ends with: "...Yes the Zenfone 7 will launch in the US but we do not have a time frame on it as yet", unambiguously indicates that the phone is on its way to the market in question. Others, also reproduced on the enthusiast site ZenFone.org, assert that a release date for the same device has not been set.
In addition, it is important to note that all of these purported support-chat snippets reference the 7 (or ZS670KS) specifically, and not the 7 Pro (ZS671KS). This variant is the only one to feature the latest Snapdragon 865+ processor (whereas the 7 has the 865) and OIS for the primary 64MP camera sensor. Finally, Asus US has yet to publicly confirm any further extensions in the availability of either new device.
