Asus is just two days away from unveiling from the Zenfone 7, and it has now emerged that the device may have a high refresh rate display. Leaked retail packaging has already confirmed that the Zenfone 7 will have a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and dual-SIM card slots. The rotating camera module from the Zenfone 6 returns, albeit with an additional sensor.
A hands-on photo of the back of the Zenfone 7 had already leaked, and now more photos of the device have been published by TechDroider. Previously, the account had stated that a 60 Hz LCD screen would be present in Asus' new Zenfone, but that no longer seems the case.
The notion that the Zenfone 7 has a high refresh rate display is predicated on the presence of a status bar icon that reads "AUTO Hz". This is the same icon that Asus uses on its ROG Phone series, which has led people to believe that the Zenfone 7 will be rocking a high refresh rate screen too. It remains to be seen whether this is an OLED or LCD panel, but Asus is currently believed to have gone with the latter.
Apparently, the Zenfone 7 has slimmer bezels that its predecessor. However, it is supposedly "a pretty heavy device", which is saying something as the Zenfone 6 weighs 190 g.
