Asus brings a possible ZenFone 7-series phone closer to launch with a new Bluetooth certification
Asus is expected to update the top-end of its ZenFone mobile device series soon. It is said to include a Pro variant of this flagship for the first time in 2020. This device may run on the Snapdragon 865+, whereas the vanilla 7 may get the slightly older Snapdragon 865 SoC instead.
Nevertheless, they are both rumored to retain the innovative flip-up camera module from the 6, although it may contain more up-to-date lenses this time around. The Bluetooth SIG has just certified a phone from the OEM that may turn out to be one of these premium ZenFones.
This documentation mentions the product name ASUS_I002D, which is not a million miles away from that of the series' gamer-focused ROG Phone 3 counterpart. There are also 2 model numbers, which hints at different variants or SKUs in this new device.
These identifiers - ZS670KS and ZS671KS - are also reminiscent of that of the ZenFone 6 (ZS630KL) in some markets. Furthermore, they are now approved to use the latest in Bluetooth standards: 5.2. Therefore, these are good indications that the ZenFone 7, if not the 7 Pro, is on its way to launch.
