Asus Zenfone 7 specs leak: 60 Hz FHD+ LCD may dampen the excitement of expectant fans
Asus will launch the Zenfone 7 series on August 26. Like clockwork, details of the devices have now started pouring in ahead of launch, starting with the regular Zenfone 7.
According to tipster Abhishek Yadav—who's usually accurate with leaks—the Zenfone 7 will sport a 60 Hz display, just like the Zenfone 6. The device is said to feature a 6.4-inch LCD FHD+ panel made by BOE. That's rather disappointing in this era of 120 Hz panels. Bar the LG V60 and Xperia 1 II, every other high-profile flagship released this year sports a high refresh rate panel, and even those two offer OLEDs at least.
That said, it was always expected that the Zenfone 7 would feature an LCD panel, and it probably appeals to the niche LCD-loving demographic.
The Zenfone 7 will sport a Goodix fingerprint reader. The source tweet isn't clear as to the location of the sensor, so it'll either be side-mounted or at the phone's rear. As teased by Asus, the Zenfone 7 will offer a swiveling camera module, with all three cameras located at the back of the phone.
The main camera will be the 64 MP Sony IMX 686, and will be joined by 12 MP IMX363 ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a ToF sensor. Under the hood will be a Snapdragon 865. The Zenfone 7 Pro may be the one with four cameras and a Snapdragon 865 Plus.
