Nexoc GH7: Maintenance friendly with Clevo barebone
Slimmer and more compact notebooks increase a trend that makes it harder or even impossible for users to perform maintenance tasks on their own device. However, those who don't appreciate this can still find laptops such as the Nexoc GH7 in the market.
The Nexoc GH7 presents itself as a gaming laptop with a 17-inch display. Interested buyers can decide for a base model and select among many options for storage and working memory as well as software using a configurator. Our test configuration uses an Intel Core i7-10750H and an Nividia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. In addition, there are 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD.
However, after the purchase users don't have to be content with this. After removing the bottom of the Nexoc GH7 case, they gain access to two RAM slots and a total of three storage slots, two of which are suited for M.2 SSDs and the third can house a SATA drive. The large case also has the advantage to always ensure enough airflow for sufficient cooling of the hardware.
One feature that has almost died out at this point is the replaceable battery, which managed to last for almost 4 hours in our WLAN test with its almost 49-Wh capacity. In terms of the display, Nexoc also made a solid choice, using a Full-HD IPS panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
Aside from all the measured results that turn out to be rock-solid in our test, the GH7 is a rather modest laptop. Of course the case is slightly trimmed for gaming, but that does not leave much of a remaining impression. With this, the Nexoc laptop might possibly the right choice for those who don't care about the slimmer and slimmer powerhouses from the competitors.

I carried out my first IT experiments with a 386-based system and a whole 4 MB RAM. This was followed by work on various PCs and laptops that I maintained and repaired for friends and acquaintances. After training to become a Telecommunications Systems Technician and gaining a few years of experience, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. Currently, I pursue my fascination for IT, technology, and mobile devices by writing reviews and articles for Notebookcheck. I have also worked for Gamestar, Netzwelt, and Golem, among others.
