Schenker XMG Pro 15: 2-kg gaming laptop with 4K OLED screen and Thunderbolt 4
For the XMG Pro 15, Schenker has chosen a black, metal chassis with smooth, matte surfaces. With its weight of just under 2 kg (~4.41 lbs), it belongs to the lightweight and compact gaming laptop class. The device can be individually configured in Schenker's online shop, with the base model coming in at around 2200 Euros (~$2500). The tested configuration can be purchased for around 3000 Euros (~$3400).
Thanks to the combination of a Core i7-11800H CPU, GeForce RTX 3080 mobile GPU (16 GB of VRAM) and 32 GB of RAM (DDR4-3200 in dual-channel mode), all current titles run smoothly. In the vast majority of cases, the games can be played with maximum details at 1080p. Using the native display resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels is also possible, albeit at reduced quality settings.
The XMG Pro 15 is not quite a top performer among RTX 3080 laptops. It achieves framerates that hover around the average for an RTX 3080 - sometimes they are slightly higher, other times slightly lower. In 3D applications, the fairly low TGP of 105 watts definitely shows. If desired, the Thunderbolt 4 port can be used to connect an external GPU in order to improve the graphics performance.
The 4K OLED screen is the stand-out feature of the XMG Pro 15. A high maximum brightness, excellent contrast ratio, great viewing angles, short response times, good color accuracy and wide color gamut are among its best qualities. Unfortunately, the panel is reflective. Furthermore, we did detect PWM flickering.
