One of the worst things about buying thin and powerful gaming laptops is that they almost always come with large and unsightly power bricks. Last year's Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 G532 was one of the more powerful 15.6-inch gaming laptops in the market at the time of launch but it also came with an oversized 280 W AC adapter weighing nearly 1 kg or almost one-third the weight of the laptop itself.
Thankfully, Asus was mindful of the power brick when it launched the successor to the G532. The latest G533 model ships a newer AC adapter that is 43 percent smaller in volume than the one that shipped with the G532. Maximum output, however, has been reduced from 280 W to 240 W which would thankfully have no impact on performance during our tests. The G533 runs on a more power efficient 7 nm AMD Zen 3 CPU compared to the 14 nm Intel Comet Lake-H part on the G532 which likely contributed to the smaller adapter.
The G533 brings a host of other benefits over the G532 beyond performance and smaller AC adapters as summarized by the table below. See our full review here to learn more about what the system has to offer.
