The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 debuted weeks ago. Most released existing performance metrics appear to come from Qualcomm's test device, but a new leak has now provided a look at the new chipset's CPU performance, seemingly from an OEM prototype.
Appearing on Geekbench, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 earns a single-core score of 1311, and a multi-core score of 4070. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on a Xiaomi device scores 1229 and 3706 respectively, showing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with a CPU performance advantage of around 7%.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is generally considered to offer 10% better performance than the Samsung-made Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and these numbers mostly confirm that. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 offers similar performance in the single-core test at 1297, but outperforms even the Snapdragon 8+ Gen in the multi-core test with a score of 4333.
While the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offers better peak performance than the chipset it replaces, the main point of the chipset is its improved efficiency—quoted at 30% versus the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1—and sustained performance.
