The Redmi Pad will be Xiaomi's first truly budget tablet and is expected to take on devices like the Realme Pad X and the OPPO Pad Air. More details of the affordable tablet have now also been revealed, with an alleged MediaTek Helio G99 beneath the hood being one notable takeaway.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its first truly budget tablet device. This tablet, the Redmi Pad, is expected to debut shortly and has now made another appearance, this time at a Chinese certification website.

As brought to light by popular leaker Digital Chat Station, the Redmi Pad, with model number "22081283C" stopped by for certification in China. While the listing doesn't reveal much, it does confirm that the tablet will be sold both in China and on the global market—as it visited the FCC at the start of the month with the model number "22081283G". Additionally, the tablet is listed with a charging wattage peaking at 22.5 W. That's better than the Realme Pad's 18 W charging, but worse than the Realme Pad X's 33 W

The aforementioned visit already revealed that the Redmi Pad would be equipped with a 7800 mAh battery. According to Mukul Sharma, the tablet will be powered by a Helio G99. The Helio G99 is a 4G chipset built on  TSMC's 6 nm process, so should guarantee decent battery life. Previous leaks touted a MediaTek Kompanio 1300T potentially, however. Finally, the Redmi Pad is expected to sport an 11.2-inch LCD, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 2.2 storage.
