The tablet market is a rather slow one right now, with the only major players being Apple's iPad, Samsung's Galaxy Tab, and Huawei's MediaPad lineups. Xiaomi used to have a tablet line, but the last tablet to come from the company's stables was the Mi Pad 4 that was released back in 2018. Thankfully, though, the Chinese manufacturer could now be set to offer a new tablet device.
The device in question is said to be the Redmi Pad, and is billed to launch on April 27, alongside MIUI 12 and the Mi 10 Lite. The Redmi Pad is touted to be powered by a Snapdragon 765G. That means it will offer 5G support. The size of the tablet's display is currently unspecified but the panel is said to offer a 90 Hz refresh rate.
Supposedly, the Redmi Pad will offer 30 W fast charge, four speakers for excellent multimedia consumption, and a 48 MP camera. The device will run on a customized form of MIUI for tablets. It's expected to launch with an MSRP of CNY 1,999 (US$282).
Xiaomi will introduce Redmi Pad 5G with MIUI 12 on April 27.
