Rumors and leaks always have to be taken with a pinch of salt. A recent leaked image showing off an alleged Redmi Pad 5G tablet from Xiaomi attracted considerable attention, especially due to its impressive specs and reasonable price. As mentioned above, the supposed Redmi Pad 5G included an SD 765G processor, 30 W fast charge, 90 Hz screen, four speakers, 48 MP camera with AI, MIUI 12 software, and it even looked good.
However, noted tipster Xiaomishka reckons the promo image for the Redmi Pad 5G tablet has been put together by a fan and is therefore a fake. The leaker, known for offering up details about upcoming Xiaomi products, points out that the device did not seem to appear on any certification databases in China, that the leaked image has been removed from SlashLeaks, which often indicates a fake render, and that the font used for the Redmi logo is different to the one the company normally uses.
Xiaomishka does seem to have a point. For instance, if you look at the usual logo used by Redmi (see image below), the top of the “d” is sliced off diagonally whereas it is whole in the alleged leaked image of the Redmi Pad 5G tablet. It seems this picture originated on the Chinese social network Weibo, where users have been making comments to the original poster asking for a source and also claiming the image is fake. There have been other rumors about an upcoming Redmi Pad device, but it might not feature these specs at this great price. We will know for sure on April 27 if this Redmi Pad 5G tablet leak is fake or not.
