9to5Google claims to have received information about Pixel Watch pricing, potentially just under two months before the smartwatch debuts globally. Incidentally, this not the first time that there have been rumours about Pixel Watch pricing. As we discussed in December 2021, The Verge believed that the Pixel Watch would cost more than any Fitbit smartwatch. At the time, Fitbit sold the Sense for US$299.95, which is also the price of the new Fitbit Sense 2.
The Verge added that the Pixel Watch would 'compete more directly with the Apple Watch', pointing towards a US$349 or US$399 price tag. According to 9to5Google, Google has settled on US$399 for the Pixel Watch, but only its LTE variant. Citing 'a source familiar with the matter', the website caveats its rumour by adding that plans could change before launch. Additionally, carrier deals should make the Pixel Watch more affordable, even if only on a monthly basis.
Based on pricing across the smartwatch industry, we would expect Google to charge approximately US$50 less for a Bluetooth version of the Pixel Watch than its LTE sibling. In other words, the Pixel Watch could start at US$349, US$50 less than the cheapest version of the Apple Watch Series 7. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch5 starts at US$279.99 as a 40 mm smartwatch and US$309.99 if you choose the 40 mm variant. Purportedly, the Pixel Watch will arrive with a 40 mm case size, along with 20 mm-wide bands. Hence, it seems that the Pixel Watch could cost more than the equivalent Galaxy Watch5 at launch.
