IFA 2022 | Garmin presents Venu Sq 2 series smartwatches with larger OLED displays, longer runtimes, a SpO2 sensor and improved GPS connectivity
Garmin has finally introduced the Venu Sq 2 series, having already presented several new smartwatches this year. As expected, the Venu Sq 2 also comes in a 'Music' variant and features a few design changes from its predecessor. Specifically, Garmin has equipped the smartwatch with narrower display bezels, a larger display and has removed its printed logo from the device's front.
Not only does the Venu Sq 2 series launch with a larger 1.41-inch display, it also relies on AMOLED technology, rather than the IPS alternatives that Garmin used in the Venu Sq. Accordingly, the 360 x 320-pixel display supports always-on-display (AOD) functionality, as well as superior colour reproduction and reduced power consumption. In that vein, Garmin claims that the Venu Sq 2 series will deliver up to 11 days of battery life between charges, putting it well ahead of the Venu Sq and Venu Sq Music.
Unsurprisingly, the Venu Sq 2 series is 5 ATM water resistant, comes with Garmin's usual suite of health and exercise modes, plus an NFC module for Garmin Pay support. Incidentally, both smartwatches have GPS modules, but only the Venu Sq 2 Music can stream music via Amazon Music, Deezer and Spotify. The Garmin Venu Sq 2 starts at US$249.99 in three colours, including Metallic Mint. Only available as a 40 mm smartwatch, the Venu Sq 2 rises to US$299.99 for the Music Edition, which also comes in three colour variants.
