Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3 receive new watch faces and other changes in Tizen OS 5.5.0.2 updates
Samsung is now distributing a new version of Tizen OS 5.5.0.2 for the Galaxy Watch Active2 and the Galaxy Watch3. While the Tizen OS version remains unchanged from early January 2021, Samsung has added a few features with this month's update. For reference, the updates will arrive as R8xxXXU1DVH4 and R8xxXXU1FVH4, with 'xx' substituted for your device's model number, such as R820 for the regular Galaxy Watch Active2.
According to both changelogs, the updates are identical. Specifically, Samsung has bundled two new watch faces cribbed from the Galaxy Watch5 series. While Samsung released numerous Galaxy Watch5 series watch faces to the Galaxy Watch4 and the Galaxy Watch4 Classic, only Gradient number and Pro analogue have made their way to the Galaxy Watch Active2 and the Galaxy Watch3.
Presumably, both watch faces are as customisable on the latter two smartwatches as they are on their Galaxy Watch5 series counterparts. Additionally, Samsung has updated the Daily Activity Indicator within the Samsung Health app. Following the update, both smartwatches should synchronise Mobile Health data, supposedly to 'improve convenience'. Also, the update allows Samsung Health to detect and record snoring via your paired smartphone as you sleep. Both updates should be available to download now as approximately 52 MB file sizes on your smartwatch directly or in the Galaxy Wearable app on your paired smartphone.
