Roland Quandt and @_snoopytech_ have revealed details about the Redmi Pad, a new avenue for Xiaomi's tablet division. While Quandt does not have any information about the rumoured 5G model, he has shared plenty concerning the regular Wi-Fi model. Specifically, the leaker has showcased marketing renders and several specifications.
Purportedly, the Redmi Pad relies on the MediaTek Helio G99, a 6 nm chipset that has two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores running at 2.2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Additionally, the tablet utilises 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage. Presumably, Xiaomi will offer the Redmi Pad in at least three memory configurations.
Separately, Quandt alleges that the Redmi Pad has a 10.61-inch LCD panel that operates at 2,000 x 1,200 pixels and 90 Hz. Likely an IPS panel, Quandt states that the display provides a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, 400 nits of peak brightness and a 10-bit colour depth. Unsurprisingly, the Redmi Pad has relatively thick bezels too, within which Xiaomi has included a single 8 MP front-facing camera with a 105-degree field of view (FoV). Incidentally, the Redmi Pad Plus possesses an 8 MP rear-facing camera that supports autofocus.
At launch, the Redmi Pad will be available in Graphite Grey, Moonlight Silver and Mint Green colour options, all with 8,000 mAh batteries that support 18 W fast charging. Predictably, the Redmi Pad will launch with MIUI 13 for Pad based on Android 12, not Android 13. A release date has not leaked yet, although Xiaomi has now confirmed an early October hardware event for the Xiaomi 12T series. Hence, we would not rule out a global Redmi Pad launch during the same event too.
