It's officially tablet season. After years of complete disregard by Android OEMs, the tablet market has seen a resurgence recently, starting with the Xiaomi Pad 5 series and on to devices like the OPPO Pad, Vivo Pad, and Realme Pad. Xiaomi is set to bring another tablet to the market, it appears, in the form of the Redmi Pad 5G.
As reported by ITHome, a new questionnaire sent out by the Xiaomi Community yesterday in China explicitly has the "Redmi Pad 5G" listed next to the Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro. While that may just be a tease—no official beta lists make any references to the Redmi Pad 5G—the existence of such a tablet would be a logical step by Xiaomi.
For one, Realme, Redmi's closest rival, now offers two tablets in its lineup: the Realme Pad and Realme Pad Mini. While both of those are solidly in the budget segment, the company is working on a 5G tablet as well, and it would make sense for Redmi to offer a similar, competing product that would also slot in beneath the more premium Xiaomi Pad 5 models.
