BLUETTI AC180 launches as new compact portable generator with fast charging and Power Lifting Mode
BLUETTI asserts that the new AC180 makes the leap to a 12~60V/10A input that results in the ability to charge at up to 1,400 watts (W) from the mains. Accordingly, the brand might evoke OnePlus Warp Charging nostalgia vibes for some potential buyers with its new "Charge for an hour, get all-day power" tag-line.
An AC180 user can watch the portable power station approach this new spec in real-time thanks to its front-facing LCD status screen. It is mounted above outputs that include a 100W USB type-C port, alongside 4 120V AC sockets and one DC output.
They are rated for up to 1,800W under normal circumstances, enough for many laptops, routers or coffee makers should the user's normal source of power desert them (or vice versa, as the case may be). However, should the AC180 detect that something like a water-heater or a hair-dryer has been plugged in instead, it activates its new Power Lifting (or 'boost') mode to increase its output to 2,700W.
The AC180 does so with LiFePO4 or LFP batteries with a typical capacity of 1,152 watt-hours (Wh). This is a little on the small side in this day and age (and helps explain why the new power station does not require a 'rolling suitcase' build) - however, it is compatible with BLUETTi B80 (806Wh), B230 (2,048Wh) or B300 (3,072Wh) modular batteries.
The fast-charging portable power station is now listed at US$1,099 on its OEM's website - although there is an Early Bird special price of US$799 still in effect for about 2 days from now (June 27, 2023 at 14:30 CET). BLUETTI has also launched the AC180 via Amazon, although its listing has yet to go live at the time of writing.
