Gigabyte BRIX GB-BRR: New mini-PC series previewed in five variants

Gigabyte has added to its BRIX mini-PCs with new AMD Ryzen 7030 APUs, which all feature Zen 3 CPU cores and Radeon RX Vega iGPUs built on 7 nm TSMC nodes. Dubbed Barcelo Refresh or Barcelo-R, Ryzen 7030 APUs are similar to Ryzen 5000U 'Cezanne' and Ryzen 5025U 'Barcelo' APUs that debuted in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Thus, these new BRIX mini-PCs will not be a match for their AMD Phoenix-powered competitors, such as the refreshed Morefine M600.

In fact, Gigabyte compares the new BRIX against its Intel Core i7-10710U-powered predecessor. According to our database, the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U that Gigabyte uses for its comparison is about 40% more powerful than the Core i7-10710U. Conversely, the Radeon RX Vega 8 iGPU is leagues above the UHD Graphics 620 in the Core i7-10710U. For reference, the BRIX GB-BRR series comes in Ryzen 3 7330U, Ryzen 5 7530U and Ryzen 7 7730U options. Gigabyte combines these Ryzen 7030 APUs with user-upgradeable DDR4-3200 RAM and the following ports:

• 1x 3.5 mm mic/headphone jack
• 1x 2.5 Gigabit LAN
• 2x HDMI 2.0
• 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
• 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
• 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode)

The BRIX GB-BRR series will be available in five variants, all with AMD RZ608 wireless cards. By default, the mini-PCs feature single 2.5-inch and M.2 2280 drive slots. However, two variants also contain an additional two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe x1 or SATA storage. All variants measure 124 x 120 x 49.7 mm and ship with the same 135 W PSU, though.
