Chatreey AM08: Mini-PC refreshed with AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and Ryzen 7 7735HS options
Chatreey has refreshed the AM08, a mini-PC that debuted earlier this year. Now, the company is offering two new models that should be more powerful than the existing AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX edition. Specifically, the Chatreey AM08 now comes with a choice between the Ryzen 7 7735HS and Ryzen 9 6900HX, a pair of Zen 3+ APUS with eight CPU cores Radeon 680M iGPUs.
Little separates the Ryzen 9 6900HX from the newer Ryzen 7 7735HS, with a 1% performance advantage in the latter's favour despite its 10 W lower default TDP. The Ryzen 7 7735HS can scale to 54 W when needed, although it has lower CPU and GPU clock speeds than the Ryzen 9 6900HX. Regardless, both APUs should be capable of playing modern triple-A games at 1080p with low to medium graphics settings.
The new versions of the AM08 feature the same expansion options and ports as the earlier editions, with twin SO-DIMM slots now for DDR5-4800 RAM, an M.2 2280 slot and a 2.5-inch drive bay. Moreover, the mini-PC has HDMI 2.0, USB Type-A, USB Type-C and Gigabit Ethernet ports, as the image below shows. The refreshed AM08 retains a physical performance dial too, with options for 'Silent', 'Auto' and 'Performance' modes.
The new versions of the Chatreey AM08 start at US$410, with the Ryzen 7 7735HS with no RAM or storage. Alternatively, the Ryzen 9 6900HX edition is available from US$465. As with the Ryzen 9 5900HX version, Chatreey offers the Ryzen 7 7735HS and Ryzen 9 6900HX with various memory configurations up to 64 GB of RAM, a 2 TB SSD and a 2 TB HDD.
