ASUS has started selling the ExpertCenter PN42, a mini-PC series that it previewed in January during CES 2023. As we discussed at the time, ASUS has built the ExpertCenter PN42 around the Intel Alder Lake-N architecture, a low-powered alternative to the company's other Alder Lake processors. For some reason, ASUS has only released Processor N100-based versions of the ExpertCenter PN42, although its product page mentions Processor N200 variants too.
At any rate, the ExpertCenter PN42 features Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6E connectivity and the following ports:
- 2x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet
- 1x 3.5 mm audio output
- 1x 3.5 mm mic input
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1x HDMI
- 3x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
ASUS has also equipped the ExpertCenter PN42 with a configurable port, for which it offers DisplayPort 1.4, COM, HDMI, USB Type-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) and VGA options. Moreover, all ExpertCenter PN42 variants support DDR5 RAM and PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSDs. Currently, it appears that ASUS is only offering the ExpertCenter PN42 through B&H Photo, where it is available in four configurations ranging from US$220 to US$270.
As Liliputing notes, there should be more SKUs on the way with the more powerful Processor N200 processor. For now, the ExperCenter PN42 starts as a barebones PC Kit without pre-installed RAM or storage. Alternatively, ASUS charges an additional US$50 for a variant with 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 128 GB of storage. Please see ASUS' website for more details.
