Oppo Watch 3: ECG, LTPO AMOLED display and up to 5 days of battery revealed by leaker
Digital Chat Station has revealed specifications for the Oppo Watch 3, details of which the company has already shared on Weibo. as we discussed yesterday, the Oppo Watch 3 will launch with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform, the successor to the Snapdragon Wear 4100 series. According to Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Watch 3 will actually utilise the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1, not the regular Snapdragon W5 Gen 1.
While the pair will offer practically identical performance, the former features a co-processor to maximise battery life. Presumably, all Wear OS OEMs bar Mobvoi will utilise the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1, with Mobvoi relying on their proprietary dual display technology instead. Digital Chat Station adds that the Oppo Watch 3 will offer up to 5 days of battery life or 15 days when used lightly.
To that end, Digital Chat Station claims that Oppo has equipped the Watch 3 with a 1.91-inch AMOLED display that possesses an LTPO backplane. Already a feature of flagship smartphones, LTPO backplanes allow devices to vary the refresh rates of AMOLED displays to minimise power consumption. Also, the leaker claims that the Oppo Watch 3 will launch with an eSIM, NFC, 5 ATM water resistance and ECG support, features that many of its competitors already offer. Pricing has not leaked yet, but Oppo is expected to announce the Watch 3 later this month, potentially as early as August 10.
