Pictures and details of the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Watch5 Pro fast charger have been leaked by SnoopyTech. The images suggest that the gadget has a very similar design to its predecessor, with magnets to hold the smartwatch in place. A significant change is the output, which is now USB-C rather than USB-A, meaning you can power the device with the latest GaN charging gadgets.
The leaker also reported that the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 fast charger would be able to charge your smartwatch to 45% in 30 minutes with a 10 W power supply. While this is more rapid charging than the Watch4 can handle, the speed still lags behind the Apple Watch Series 7, which can reach 80% in 45 minutes. The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch can charge even faster, gaining 80% in 30 minutes. It is currently unclear how long the Watch5 will take to charge fully via the fast charging device.
In another recent tweet, SnoopyTech leaked the Canadian prices of the various Samsung Galaxy Watch5 models. The 40 mm base Watch5 model is expected to retail for CA$349 (~US$272), the 44 mm variant for CA$389 (~US$303), and the Watch5 Pro for CA$559 (~US$435). European prices for the devices were leaked earlier this year, as were the series configuration options and special edition models. The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro will officially launch on August 10, when we expect more charging information to be provided.
