Fossil has just introduced Gen 6 Hybrid smartwatches, as has sister company Skagen. However, the company has now expanded upon its Wear OS offering, albeit with another Gen 6 model. Specifically, Fossil has released the Gen 6 Venture Edition, a version that contains a few changes from the regular Gen 6.
On the one hand, Fossil has given the Venture Edition what appears to be a new silver finish that looks a touch different from the stainless steel versions that Fossil already sells. Fossil states that the Venture Edition still has a stainless steel case, though. For reference, the company restricts the Venture Edition to a 44 mm case size with 22 mm interchangeable straps.
As such, the Venture Edition has a 1.28-inch AMOLED display, two push buttons, a rotating crown, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. Moreover, the Venture Edition contains all the Gen 6 series' core features, including PPG heart rate and SpO2 sensors, 3 ATM water resistance and up to 24 hours of battery life.
On the other hand, the Venture Edition also offers a recycled green nylon and brown eco-leather strap, which Fossil bills as 'sustainable style'. Additionally, Fossil has pre-loaded a new dial to evoke the feel of 'classic digital field watches'. The Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition is orderable in multiple markets, including the US, where it retails for US$279.
